Hurricane Joaquin

The bad news is Hurricane Joaquin is hammering Long Island, Rum Cay, San Salvador Cat Island and the Semana Cays. The good news is the storm is predicted to swing north and not score a direct hit on Abaco, Grand Bahama and Andros. With 135 MPH winds and 5 inches of rain per hour, it's the first Category 4 storm to hit the Bahamas this late in October in 149 years.

  1. That storm popped up out of nowhere. Two days ago I looked at the Hurricane web site and it showed Ida out in the mid-Atlantic sort of muddling around in a circle, not really doing anything. Then yesterday Ida is gone and Joaquin shows up almost right on top of central Bahamas. Very strange storm. Hope every one over there was prepared.
